The Petit Mill Grindstone Print

The millstones have a long tradition associated with the Thomson high schools. Originally used during the 1860’s at Petit Mill on the banks of Johnson Creek east of town...

the stones were moved in front of the original York Community High School. They served as a prominent feature and meeting spot for many generations of students, and were moved in 1961 when the new high school was built. Today they remain in front of the West Carroll School District offices in Thomson.
