Welcome to Thomson, Illinois, where the river meets the town. Situated along the banks of the great Mississippi, where you can pull up a chair, watch the sun go down and dip your toes into the mighty Mississippi river, all in one place.

Fall is here! The Halloween Party and Firemen’s Pancake breakfast were a big success. Thanks to the Thomson Police, Fire Protection District, and Women’s Club for all their hard work, and to the many sponsors for their support!

Fall means PUMPKINS, and as we all know, they are plentiful in our area and are used not only for Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns, but are the mainstay of many residential homes’ beautiful fall yard displays.

That being said, this is the part where I ask everyone NOT to dump pumpkins and rotting garden produce in the Village’s burn area at the end of Enloe Avenue.  This area is kept for residents’ use as a convenient place to take yard refuse such as grass clippings, tree branches, leaves, etc.  Rotting garden produce and pumpkins do not burn, they rot, and create an attraction for feral scavengers. This week an old tire appeared, as well as other household-type waste which clearly do not fit the description of “Yard Waste”.  PLEASE do not jeopardize the future availability of this area by misusing it.

Don’t forget to sign up for the Thomson Fire Protection District’s new Emergency Notification System!  This service is free of charge to residents of the TFPD’s service area.  Please click on the link we have provided to enroll, and if you have a friend or loved one who does not have a computer, please feel free to register for them! You may receive alerts via landline, cell phone, text, or email. Thank you Thomson Fire Protection District for this service!
