Halloween treats

HALLOWEEN SCHEDULE: Village Halloween festivities will take place on Friday, October 31.

Trick-or-Treat: 4:00 – 6:00 pm

Parade: Line-up begins on South Street in front of the school at 5:45 pm

Halloween Party: Fire Station 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Some parents have expressed a concern that children riding buses often aren’t home from school until after 3:30.  This leaves little time to put on costumes and begin  trick-or-treating.  Our prime concern is the safety of our little ones, and since Daylight Savings Time is still in effect, we are trying to utilize the remaining daylight hours most effectively.  Additionally, the Volunteer Firefighters need time to clean up and get ready for the Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning.  Rest assured, the “Goodie Bags” your kids receive at the party will more than make up for missing a few houses!  Village Trustee Char Daehler and Police Chief Elizabeth Balk and I packed over 200 bags of candy and treats on Friday, to make sure every child has a Happy Halloween! Hurrah to our generous sponsors, who continue to make our Halloween and Christmas Parties an event not to be missed: Thomson Women’s Club and Library (Witches’ Wagon, cake walk); Bears Drive-In (nachos); Fire and Police Departments (goody bags, treats, golden dollars, hot dogs);  Neumiller Farms (potato chips); Mrs. Ida Krahn (soft drinks); Casey’s General Store (gift certificates); and Thomson Chamber of Commerce (cash to provide the bags, golden dollars, and decorations). Come enjoy the party and admire the kids’ costumes! Play some games and work up an appetite for the:

FIREMEN’S PANCAKE BREAKFAST:  Saturday November 1 from 7:00am to 1:00pm. All-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, dessert and beverages. Cost: Donations at the door, $5.00 for take-out. Funds will be used to purchase equipment.
