Welcome to Thomson, Illinois, where the river meets the town. Situated along the banks of the great Mississippi, where you can pull up a chair, watch the sun go down and dip your toes into the mighty Mississippi river, all in one place.

Watermelon Wine produced from Bim McGinnis Melons!Head Trivia Judge Lewis "The Oracle" Frosch        The Thomson Sesquicentennial Kickoff Celebration was a huge success!  A capacity crowd was on hand at the Heirloom Cafe for the unveiling of the sesquicentennial logo, sampling of watermelon wine, and trivia competition.  As trivia host and emcee, I would like to personally thank the Trivia Team volunteers who gave so gnerously of their time and enthusiasm: Head Judge Lewis “The Oracle” Frosch, judges Deann Kramer, Brian Balk and Brady Balk; Technology Specialist/Official Scorekeeper Char Daehler, Chief Financial Officer Marne Lashelle, Door Prize assistants Bev Bailey, Dave Daehler and Courtney Balk, and Merchandise Sales Associates Ron Smith and (Best Mom Ever) Gerry Bealer.  Generous sponsors were: Arnold’s Bikes, AUSP Thomson, Bear’s Drive-In, CDG Ceramics, Casey’s General Store, Char & Dave Daehler, Dusty’s Pizza, Angie Taylor, Massbach Ridge Winery, McKee & Sons Lumber, Neumiller Farms, RT 84 Diner/The Station, Sandburr Run, Theresa Duggan, Hook Grain, Savanna-Thomson State Bank, and our hosts for the evening, Heirloom Market & Cafe. Special thanks to Bill & Kim Heid, Sarah Tyler, and the entire staff for their great service and hospitality.  We had eleven teams participate in the trivia competition, and hopefully everyone had as much fun as I did. Congratulations to “Bruce and the Youngsters” who won first place, “Pathetic Pirates” who won second, and “Speeding Demons” who came in third.  Thanks, everyone!
